According to the U.S. Census Bureau 2008 American Community Survey, the Davenport-Moline, Rock Island, IA-IL Metropolitan Statistical Area had a population of 378,879. The 2008 Gross Domestic Product was $16,791,000,000.
The Quad City Region is in the primary center of a 12-county commercial/industrial center. Combining the six-county Quad City Region with the contiguous counties of Knox, Warren, Whiteside in Illinois and Cedar, Jackson and Louisa counties in Iowa, the total value of industrial output is $40 billion and population is nearly 655,000 people.
The region is within a 2 ½ hour drive of Chicago—the 18th largest economy in the world and the third largest consumer market in the U.S.
